Before pursuing your dream of studying in France, you must apply for a course and university or college you want to study. France has its university or college application procedures similar to any other country. However, you must make sure that you fill in the required information and attach required documents in their entirety. France provides application procedures differently depending on where one comes from. For instance, an applicant living in the European Union (EU) region has different requirements compared to a non-EU applicant. You are also advised to keep in mind that individual colleges have different entry criteria. Many colleges often charge fees to submit an application. Sometimes, you can be told to do essays on various topics. This is critical and although you can always do research, make sure you state the facts and prove that you can write well thought information. This will help you during your studies.
Language Test
You will also be required to submit proof of proficiency in English language. Tests can be completed online. You should complete this test prior submitting you application. Your test results can then be sent together with application forms. You must also note that this examination is taken at a cost.
Finance
Local EU students can access financial aid programs to ease their cost of attending school. You should however indicate this on the college application. Non-EU or International students on the other hand, have to be verified as to whether they have enough funds to cater for their education and ensure their comfort ability during the course.

French government requires that everyone willing to enter France must have the appropriate Visa for their entry and stay in the country. The visas can be short and long stay visas whereby, a short visa is for those seeking a stay in the country for a period not more than 3 months (90 days). You are advised to check on the period your visa is valid as their will be no extension of the validity period. A long stay visa is another type of visa for people seeking to stay for a longer period as well as those who want to be permanent residents in the country.
French immigration law restricts people without skills and those who would rather be a burden to French government. It streamlines entry of skilled persons and those who are productive and would contribute to the country’s economy.
French government has given its Consulate the sole discretion to accept or decline entry passport requirements. You should consult their embassy for information on whether you meet their requirements.
However, France has Visa exemptions for people from select countries seeking to stay for short periods of not more than 90 days. Visas are also offered free of charge for select groups of people including; holders of diplomatic or service passport, primary and secondary school students traveling for the purposes of study or educational training, holders of French government study grants, holders of study grants from foreign governments and foundations and beneficiaries of EU, beneficiaries of France-Canada agreement concerning youth mobility, foreign nationals teaching French, scientific researchers and many more.
